Delete your data and account
Three ways to remove your data from Brainy Grid, and how to request deletion by email.
Brainy Grid is a graphic-dictation app for children. The child’s part of the app works fully offline and without an account: nothing about your child is sent anywhere. An account is optional, is created by an adult behind a parental gate, and exists for two things only — syncing progress across the family’s devices and carrying the subscription between them.
There are three ways to remove data, from the narrowest to the fullest. Start with the one that matches what you actually want gone: you do not need to delete the account to delete a child’s profile or everything on a device.
1. Delete one child’s profile
- Open the app and tap the gear icon.
- Pass the parental gate (an arithmetic challenge for adults).
- Open Children.
- Tap the bin icon on the profile you want to remove and confirm (Delete child).
The child’s name, age band, avatar, drawings and progress are removed from the device immediately and stop syncing. On the server the profile is marked deleted and its fields — name, age band, avatar and theme — are erased; only the deletion marker itself stays, so that the profile does not come back from another device in the family. To remove the server copy entirely, use step 3.
2. Delete everything on this device
- Open the app and tap the gear icon.
- Pass the parental gate.
- Open Erase all data.
- Confirm with Erase on this device.
This permanently removes all child profiles, photos of drawings and the images derived from them (from disk), the attempt history, statistics and app settings. The app returns to its first-launch state; only the interface language is kept.
If you were signed in, your cloud data stays — it is removed by step 3.
3. Delete your account and all cloud data
- Open the app and tap the gear icon.
- Pass the parental gate.
- Open Family account.
- Tap Delete account and confirm.
Everything tied to the account is deleted from the server immediately and irreversibly: the parent record, child profiles, aggregate statistics, practice events and subscription entitlement. If you signed in with Apple, the Apple token is revoked as part of the same request.
Deleting the account does not by itself remove data stored on the device. To wipe both at once, use Erase all data → Erase and delete account. To remove the device copy separately, use step 2 or uninstall the app.
Request deletion by email
If you cannot sign in, write to brainygrids@gmail.com from the email address the account was created with and ask us to delete the account. We will delete it and reply within 30 days.
What is deleted, and when
An account stores only this: the parent’s email, the user ID, each child’s nickname and age band, the profile avatar and theme, numeric practice metrics (dictations completed, time, match percentages) and the subscription status with its expiry date. We do not store photos of drawings, exact dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, location, contacts or advertising identifiers — those either never leave the device or are never collected at all.
While the account exists:
- practice events (the numeric metrics of individual attempts) are kept for no longer than 12 months and are then deleted automatically by a daily server job;
- child profiles, aggregate statistics and account data are kept for as long as the account exists — they are current state, not a log.
When you delete the account, all of it goes at once, immediately and irreversibly. Nothing is kept afterwards, and there is no grace period during which the data could be restored.
Your subscription
The subscription is billed by the App Store or Google Play, not by us. Deleting the account detaches the subscription from it, but does not cancel the subscription itself — cancel it in the store where you bought it (App Store → Subscriptions, or Google Play → Payments & subscriptions), otherwise billing continues.
